Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting takes place on the evening of Tuesday 23 April in the Community Centre.

Join us for an informative celebration of life in Christchurch, with a guest speaker from Cambridgeshire Police.

The Annual Parish Meeting is your opportunity to come together as a community to discuss all aspects of life in Christchurch, raise issues or make suggestions. It’s also an opportunity for village organisations and groups to showcase their work and celebrate their achievements.

Parish Council Vacancy

A vacancy has arisen on the Parish Council following the death of Councillor Peter Owen. For further details, see the Notice of Vacancy below.

No election was called in respect of this vacancy, so the Parish Council intends to co-opt a new Councillor at its meeting on Monday 11 March. Anyone interested in applying for consideration for this position should submit a brief written statement outlining their relevant knowledge, skills and experience, their reasons for wanting to become a Councillor and what they hope to achieve in the role. Statements must be submitted to the Clerk no later than Wednesday 6 March.

New Councillors Co-opted

The three vacancies resulting from May's elections have now been filled. Shaun Potter, Ryan Feeney and Julia Hayes were co-opted onto the Council, bringing different knowledge and experience to broaden our horizons. We welcome them all and look forward to working with them for the next four years.

Parish Council Nominations

Nominations have closed for the forthcoming local council elections. Four valid nominations were received for Christchurch Parish Council, so there will be no contested election and those nominated will be elected unopposed. Three vacancies remain to be filled by co-option, so anybody interested in finding out more about the work of the Parish Council and the role of a Councillor should contact the Clerk before the end of April.

Elections will be held on Thursday 4th May for all Parish and Town Councils in Fenland, including all seven seats on Christchurch Parish Council if more than seven valid nominations are received.

Funding for Community Projects

The Whitemill Environment Fund distributes funding from the Coldham wind farms for environmental projects in the parishes of Elm and Christchurch. The Fund is administered by Fenland District Council.

Examples of the types of projects eligible for funding are shown on the poster below. If you have an idea for a suitable project, contact Rebecca Robinett for further advice.

Christchurch Parish Council's new website has been launched, to provide enhanced details of the work of the Parish Council and to assist residents in accessing the services provided by Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council. There is much more to be added to the site, so visit regularly to see new information as it is added.
